Here at Gaelo Jewellery in Alford, we are always keen to buy your unloved or broken bits of solid gold jewellery....chains, earrings, rings, necklaces, charm bracelets, etc. If you have items which you think are gold but you're not sure, we will examine and advise you without obligation and free of charge - we are are always happy to advise!
To identify UK hallmarked gold, you are looking for small impressed stamps, like the ones shown below:

Rings will have the stamp on the shank - sometimes they are worn almost smooth. Bracelets and chains will usually have their marks on the ring that connects the clasp and sometimes, in bracelets, a mark on every link. If gold has come from overseas, then you will usually find some kind of mark that tells the item is solid gold.

Normally we prefer to purchase items that have a UK hallmark or carat stamp but we will consider all items.
We charge a variable commission on the daily fixed price of gold so you get most of what the daily rate is; if the day's rate is high, you will get a high price.
We charge less commission the larger the weight of gold purchased. We can pay cash, cheque or bank transfer.
For winter/spring 2024, our shop in Alford will only be open 3 days a week - Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays so it's important you 'phone in advance to make sure our buyer, Mike, will be in attendance.
